London, 13 Dec - The shaky platform of the Iranian Regime rests atop the twin pillars of domestic repression and the export of fundamentalist terrorism.

Now is the time to take serious action against the Regime- through international sanctions and support of the domestic Iranian Resistance forces-and destroy those pillars so that the whole dammed Regime falls.

If you don’t believe that this is not only necessary but also urgent, read on and all will be explained.

London, 12 Dec - Iranian courts have long been accused of issuing politically motivated sentences by human rights advocates. Trials are often held behind closed doors, and may last only a few minutes. Charges, and even verdicts, can be left to public speculation rather than informing defense teams or family. However, the execution of Iranian-Swedish professor Ahmadreza Djalali seems inevitable according to the Free University of Brussels (VUB), where Djalali was a guest professor in the field of disaster medicine.

London, 30 Nov - There are numerous foreign nationals locked up in Iran, mostly on sedition or espionage charges. They are being tortured, mistreated and denied essential medical attention.

The situation with these prisoners is getting even more delicate as US President Trump is threatening to reimpose crippling sanctions and derail the 2015 nuclear deal.

Almost two years ago, several Americans who were jailed in Iran were released when the nuclear deal came into effect. At the same time, several Iranians that were being held in the United States were sent back to Iran.

London, 11 Dec - Iran’s decision to transfer an imprisoned American doctoral student within Evin prison has increased fears for his safety, according to Human Rights Watch.

Xiyue Wang, a Princeton Ph.D. student and US citizen, was moved to Ward 7, where a Taliban inmate threatened him in the presence of a guard, on December 6, according to a valuable source.

That source told Human Rights Watch that this same inmate had previously made a threat on Wang’s life when they were both detained in Ward 209, which led to the Taliban inmate’s transfer to a different cell.

The United States and its allies have been trying to deal with Iran regime for a long time. There have been failed policies of appeasement in which leaders reach out to the “moderates” in the regime and there has not yet been a strategy that confronts the whole issue.

Human rights is something that has been not been prioritised, with leaders preferring to deal with specific issues. Leaders in the EU are trying to address Iran’s belligerence by creating economic opportunities for Iran, and the Obama administration led the way in ignoring Iran’s aggression and giving it incentive after incentive.

London, 6 Dec - In advance of the international Human Rights Day, members of the parliament of the European Union held a conference on EU policy towards Iran, in which they advised that the EU must- at the very least- condition its relationship with Iran with an improvement to human rights in the country.

On Wednesday, December 6, the Friends of a Free Iran (FOFI) intergroup met in Brussels to discuss the appalling human rights abuses in Iran from the 1988 massacre, which killed 30,000 political prisoners, to the current wave of arbitrary imprisonments of dual or foreign nationals.

London, 24 Nov - Thousands have taken to the internet and social media to campaign for the release of a British charity worker falsely imprisoned in Iran, as media outlets began to report that she could face a second trial on new bogus propaganda charges as early as next month.

If convicted of these new ridiculous charges, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe could be sentenced to an additional five years in the notorious Evin prison, according to her husband Richard Ratcliffe.

Iran Focus

London, 2 Dec - In April 2016, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was arrested at the Tehran airport while trying to return with her two-year-old daughter to the UK after a vacation to visit family in Iran, writes Lord Maginnis of Drumglass. The child’s passport was confiscated and she has been separated from her British father ever since. Mrs. Zaghari-Ratcliffe was deprived of due process, subjected to vague national security charges, and sentenced to five years in prison. Now the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps is spearheading an effort to add new charges based on the same so-called evidence and expand her sentence by as much as 16 years, Lord Maginnis wrote on the Politics Home website on Thursday.

London, 18 Nov - The human rights situation in Iran continues to be of serious concern. It is reported that activists, journalists, and foreign nationals are harassed, arrested, mistreated, and even tortured and imprisoned for speaking against the regime.

The international community recognized this by passing the 64th resolution, adopted by the UN Third Committee, that condemns the human rights violations in Iran. The resolution was was praised by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) President-elect Maryam Rajavi. She said that she sees it as another step by the international community toward addressing the needs of the Iranian people.
